Fake photos and substitutes: how to avoid them

If you’ve been browsing escort websites for a while, it’s happened to you or you know someone it has happened to: the girl in the photos doesn’t exist, or she existed ten years and twenty retouches ago. The two tricks of the industry

Fake photos. Profiles put together with stolen photographs — of models, from stock libraries, from social media — or run through so many filters that they no longer describe anyone. The aim is to get you to call; whatever turns up afterwards is another matter.

The substitute. The oldest classic of all: you book one girl and someone else opens the door, “because your girl had an unexpected problem, but this one is just as beautiful.” At that hour and with the appointment already underway, many accept rather than argue. They’re counting on that.

How to spot it before you book

A few signs that rarely fail:

— Photos that are too perfect, from a professional studio and without a single natural image: be suspicious. A real gallery mixes qualities.
— The same girl on several websites under different names: a reverse image search on Google finds her in seconds.
— Refusal to confirm details over the phone: the person answering doesn’t know how to describe the girl because they don’t know her.
— Abnormally low prices for what the photos show: the classic bait.
